Bonnie Jean Schmidt

d. October 13, 2013

In Loving memory of Bonnie Jean (Lee) Schmidt. May 11, 1956-October 13, 2013 Bonnie attended Berne Knox High School and graduated in 1974. She had a strong desire to care for people in need, so she took up a professional career in the health field as a home health aide for her entire life. There came a time when her illness prevented her from practicing and later took a job at the Guilderland Price Chopper in the Bakery section. Bonnie also loved this job, as she always took pride in her work! Bonnie was diagnosed with a serious liver condition twenty two years ago. At that time the doctors felt very strongly that she would have at least 15 good years before her condition would worsen. Fortunately for Bonnie she had eighteen good years before her liver caused further medical complications. Two years ago Bonnie was placed on the liver transplant list at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. This hospital specializes in transplants. Due to her illness and no available livers, Bonnie’s body could fight no more. She is survived by her loving husband and care giver, Dennis M. Schmidt, her daughter Tracey L. Furman (Donivan), her son Benji R. Furman (Kelly) , stepdaughter Leslie M. Schmidt and stepson Brandon Miller. She is also survived by her grand children Ashley Homeyer, Jeffrey Homeyer, Robert Haas and Garner Furman. She was predeceased by her father Bennie Lee and is survived by her stepmother Shirley Lee, and mother Donna Slingerland Lee, brother Bruce Lee (Fely), sister Denise Stoliker (Mike) and brother Brian Lee (Patty). Other survivors include several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many special friends. A memorial service for Bonnie will be held on Saturday October 26th at 12:30 at the Lee family cemetery on route 85 in Westerlo. All are welcome to attend.
