First of all let me apologize for the time that has gone by before conveying to you our sympathy in the loss of your beloved one. I was so very surprised to pick up the paper and see that Dave had passed away, I did not know that he was ill, but I have to admit, I am so busy at home, that I really do not have a clue what goes on in town. Bill and I want to tell you how sorry we were to learn of your loss. We did not know Dave as well as some but he was someone we recognized as a fellow townsmen and as a member of the Berne Fire Department and someone who had lived here in the village for many years and whose presence will be missed! Again, plese accept our sympathy for your loss. Bill and Joan

As a husband, a father and friend, one could not find a more genuine person. A visiting bird, who refused to leave The First Reformed Church of Berne on the day of Dave's passing made all who loved him know that he was watching over the church's affairs, as he did for several decades, and joining his church family on Sunday, as he always had. Peggy, Colin and Ian... our hearts are with the three of you.XXOO
