Karen A. Dillon

Selkirk,NY Karen A. Dillon,72 passed away at St. Peter's Hospice Inn on May 20,2011.She was born in GlensFalls NY on March 3,1939 the daughter of the late Mitchell Russell Sr. and Agnes Pippine. She graduated from St. Ann's Academy in 1957. She was married at St. Ann's R.C. Church in 1958.Before she was married she worked at Albany Hardware. After she was married and had children she devoted twenty years of her life to her family as a mother and homemaker. During this time she volunteered as a Brownie Leader and for the Selkirk Fire Company Ladies Auxillary. After the death of her husband Philip, she went back in the work force at St. Peter's Hospital Radiology Department as a medical receptionist. She retired after tweny-one years of service. She also was a licensed beautician. Karen is survived by her daughter Colleen Dillon of Selkirk,daughter Cathleen (James) Gordon of Latham and her beloved and cherished granddaughter Caitlin Gordon. She is also survived by several generations of nieces and nephews that were an important part of her extended family. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth Hopkins and her brother Mitchell Russell Jr. Calling hours will be held on Monday May 23,2011 at Fredendall Funeral Home Altamont, NY From 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tues. May 24,2011 at 10:30am at St. Francis of Asissi R.C. Church-South End (formerly St. John's St.Ann's). Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont NY. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Community Hospice of Albany County , 445 New Karner Rd.
