Leila Salsburg

Guilderland- Leila Crawford Salsburg passed away peacefully on February 27, 2017 after a long illness. Leila lived her entire life in East Berne where she was born on April 20, 1933, to the late Clifford and Ruby (nee McMillen) Crawford, Sr. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Myron; a daughter Shirley; her brother Clifford Crawford Jr; and her sister Pearl Stark. Survived by her three daughters, Deborah (Thomas) Stevens, Margie (Steve) Kawczak, Cindy (Peter) Kawczak; grandchildren Matthew and Jeremy Kawczak, Amy (Matthew) Relyea, Wendy (Brandon) Trossbach, and a great-granddaughter, Madison Relyea. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law and devoted friend Lillian Crawford; and a brother-in-law, Homer Stark; many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends. She graduated from the 8th grade from the Berne-Knox Central School. Leila was a stay at home mom and very involved with the family hobbies. She loved her flower gardens; the summers and traveling on vacation; from canning fruits and vegetables in the summer to baking pies and oatmeal cookies in the winter and making sure all of our holidays and family events were very special. In the past Leila was the official score keeper at the trap shoots for the A&R Sportsman's Club in Reidsville and most recently a member of the Elsmere Rod and Gun Club. May she finally rest in peace and walk hand in hand with Myron again. Leila's family would like to thank the staff on the Quadruple at Our Lady of Mercy Care, for the care they have given her theses past few years. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 4-7PM at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont, NY. A service to follow at 7PM. Interment will take place in the spring at Onesquethaw Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leila's memory to Alzheimer Association or the Helderberg Ambulance Inc.
