Marie I Tinkel

d. October 6, 2012

Marie Irene Tinkel, 92 passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on October 6, 2012. Born February 1, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Marie (Smith) and Frederick Minnick. She was predeceased by her adoring husband of 49 years Martin H. Tinkle. As a young girl she studied dance and vocal music, a joy that continued throughout her life. Marie graduated from Jamaica High School in 1938 where she excelled in stenography and secretarial work. She was employed as a secretary for Pan American Airlines in Baltimore and in New York where she met the love of her life, her husband Martin. She also worked at Greiner-Maltz Realty. Marie and Martin raised their family in Westbury Long Island. They loved to travel and enjoyed many wonderful trips throughout the world. Marie was an especially kind and caring person who welcomed everyone she met with her warm smile. She is remembered by her family and friends for always making them feel special; for an effortless grace that came through in all that she did. Her love of culture, the arts, food, her pets and enjoying a great party have been passed down through the generations. She is survived by her sister Joan Ward, her children Laura (Austin) Saddlemire, Michael (Lin) Lawrence, Stephen (Peggy) Tinkle, her grandchildren, Angela (Randy) Beavers, Heather Lawrence, Sara Levy, Rachael (Lee) Empie, Austin Saddlemire, Dominick Tinkle, Dionte Tinkle, Tequanna Louis and D'Andre Mason and great grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor, Madeline, Jeremiah, Hannah and Jesse.
