Richard Philip DiNovo

d. July 9, 2012

DiNovo Richard P, 65, passed away the evening of July 8th surrounded by his family and friends at his home in Altamont after a long illness. Born July 29th, 1946 in Albany, Dick grew up on Orlando Ave. He joined the Navy and served on an aircraft carrier off the coast of Vietnam. After leaving the service, Dick attended Chauffeur's Driving school and became a tractor trailer driver. He drove for Chemical Lehman Co. for most of his career logging more than 1,500,000 accident-free miles. Dick married the love of his life, Jean Morier in 1969. Their love only grew stronger after 43 years of marriage. They were an inspiration to all who knew them. They raised two children, Sandra DiNovo Ostrander and Richard (Rick) DiNovo; their biggest sources of pride. They were also blessed with two grandchildren, Corrine and Morgan (Ostrander) who brought much joy to their lives. Although he drove for a living, Dick loved to take his family on cross country adventures with his RV and go with Jean and friends on trips with his Harley Davidson. After retirement, they spent their winters in Arizona or Florida with some of their many friends. He visited 48 of the 50 states, enjoyed many sailing adventures in the Caribbean, travelled through England and Scotland, and shared a dream cruise last year to Italy and Croatia with Jean. Dick is predeceased by his parents, Philip S. and Josephine (LaCavera) DiNovo and his brother Paul DiNovo. He is survived by his beloved wife Jean (Morier) DiNovo, his children, Sandra (Mike) Ostrander, Richard S. DiNovo, two grandchildren, Corrine and Morgan Ostrander, his sisters, Elaine (Robert) Falzano. Marguerite (CT) Gregorie and Mary Anne DiNovo. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Calling hours are 5:00 to 8:00 on Friday, July 13 at the Fredendall Funeral Home 199 Main St in Altamont. Funeral services will begin Saturday, July 14 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St Matthews Church in Voorheesville.
