Timothy Michael Godfrey

Timothy Michael Godfrey, son, brother, and friend to many, died unexpectedly Monday morning, October 11th, 2010. He was 29. Born in Altamont on April 29, 1981, Tim has left behind a loving family. Those mourning his loss include his mother, Kristen Jones and her husband, Sam Crosby, his father, Daniel Godfrey and his wife, Judith McLaughlin, Grandmothers, Margaret Jones and Helen Godfrey, Step-Grandmother Shirley McLaughlin, his older sister, Jessica Jones, and her children Andrew and Eliza, and younger sister, Rebecca Godfrey, as well as step-siblings Erin, Ryan and Briana Markle. Considered a "favorite cousin", his life is being celebrated by a number of surviving uncles, aunts, and cousins. Despite his tough exterior, Tim had a warm and gentle heart. His tenderness toward animals was well known by his family, including a time as a teenager he rescued a sick baby bird and nursed it back to health. His father and step-father both fondly remember times they spent with Tim fishing and walking in the woods. His father recalls a recent evening spent listening to the calls of a bobcat near their rural home. An avid reader, Tim enjoyed all things science fiction and fantasy. In his free time he enjoyed playing fantasy role-playing games, visiting with friends, playing paintball and catching the occasional Gwar show. He was an enthusiastic fan of both the Mets and Jets. He had recently returned to school and was pursuing a degree in Computer Sciences. Tim's sense of , sharp wit, and intelligence were respected by all those fortunate enough to spend time with him. He will forever be remembered as a powerful force of strength and love. In recent months he had taken steps to improve his life and relationships with his family. He was living with his father Dan and stepmother Judy in Grovenors Corners, New York. A funeral and remembrance service will be held Saturday October 16, 2010 at 4 PM at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont. Friends may call prior to the service from 12 to 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Carlisle Volunteer Fire Department 2417 Highway Rt. 20, P.O. Box Drawer B, Carlisle, NY 12031.

Way too young and way too soon. Tim was amazing, and will be missed dearly. Thoughts and prayers to his family, even his family that he held as close friends.
