Lexington- William (Billy) W. Mellott, of Lexington, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was born July 13, 1937 in Prattsville, the son of the late Ethel (Delamarter Oliver) and Lynn Mellott. Billy is survived by his wife Janice (Meguin); his children Keith (Jessica) and Jannel Mellott; his grandchildren William and Danielle; his son Michael (Leisa) Karlou and Emily of South Dakota. In addition he is survived by his brothers Hank (Ann) Oliver, Don Oliver; his sisters Lula Soule and Florence (Flossie) McAdams; his brother's-in-law Dan Meguin and Andrew Meguin and sister-in-law Ellen Heraty; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert (Bob) Mellott, George Oliver and sisters Peg Morrison and Gladys Knapp. Billy was known for being a hard worker, constantly busy and always willing to lend a helping hand. He worked as a road construction laborer. He always enjoyed being outdoors, taking care of his lawn, beautiful flowers and his neighbors. Billy loved his family, his many friends and his community; and would do anything for anybody. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 3PM-9PM at Decker Funeral Home, 5312 State Rt. 23, Windham. A funeral service to be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1PM at Lexington United Methodist Church with interment to follow at the Rappelyea Family Cemetery in Prattsville. Donations may be made in Billy's memory to The Community Hospice of Columbia/Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill, NY 12414
