Altamont - Andrew W. Laraway, 71, formally of Albany and Voorheesville passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on June 12, 2010 after a long illness. Andrew was born on September 7, 1938, the son of the late Andrew J. and Marion (Flack) Laraway. He graduated from Phillip Schyler in 1956. Andrew worked as a computer analyst for the New York Telephone Company for 35 years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was also a member of the Bethlehem Masonic Lodge. Andrew was a Sergeant in the National Guard, Signal Corps from 1958-1966. He was an active member of the New York Telephone and the Albany City Bowling Leagues. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and hunting, at Union Falls in the Adirondacks. A kind, gentle man he had great love and affection for his family. Andrew is survived by his wife of 50 years Emily Greene Laraway. Besides his wife Emily, he is survived by his three daughters Deborah VanDyke (Dean) of Hudson, NY, Laurie Cerrone (Raymond) of Clifton Park, NY, and Kimberly Gold (Robert) of Evergreen, Colorado. Andrew was Pop-Pop to Tyler VanDyke, Dustin Sweet, Paul and Joshua Michaels, Alexandra Cerrone, Benjamin Picard, and Jacob, Samuel and Mosha Gold. He is also survived by two nieces, Cindy Curley and Sherrie West, two great nephews, a great niece and many cousins. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Community Hospice of Schenectady and his caregivers at home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Saturday June 19, 2010 at 2 PM at the Altamont Reformed Church, 129 Lincoln Ave. Altamont, NY. A private interment was held in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to be made to Altamont Reformed Church or Community Hospice of Schenectady.
