Beverly A. Gordon

November 4, 1950 — February 22, 2026

Guilderland

Born on November 4,1950 in Geneva, New York, Beverly embraced the principles of family and education early in life. She lived a purposeful life, full of love and care, always giving to others.

Beverly was the fourth child born to the union of the late Fletcher and Ida Mae Simpson. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She joined and attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with her family.

Beverly was a proud 1967 graduate of Geneva High School. She continued her education at Syracuse University, where she earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Social Work degree.

Beverly's former spouse, Donald J. Williams, was her long-time high school sweetheart. They were blessed with one child, Shannon T, Gordon who was the light of her life. Beverly was a loving and devoted mother. She also valued close friendships and interests that brought her joy.

Beverly dedicated more than 30 years to the New York State Office of Developmental Disabilities. Throughout her career, she was recognized for her unwavering commitment, versatility in handling various assignments, and her heartfelt devotion to the developmental disability community. Her coworkers fondly recall Beverly as a kind individual who was always ready to help anyone in need. She lived a life filled with laughter and consistently extended a helping hand to others.

Beverly enjoyed shopping, decorating her home and planting flowers in her garden. These things along with spending time with family and friends brought her joy. Later in life, Beverly met Clifford Johnson, with whom she built a loving, fulfilling and meaningful partnership in Houston, Texas. Together they traveled, visited casinos, went camping and enjoyed their senior season of life.

On Sunday, February 22, 2026, Beverly passed away peacefully, leaving a rich and enduring legacy of a life well lived. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fletcher and Ida Mae Simpson; two brothers, Fletcher Donald and David Leroy; and one sister, Jacqueline.

She leaves to cherish the memories of her love: her beautiful daughter, Shannon; two sisters; Eva Mae and Diana Marie; one brother, Frederick (Fran); and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
