Voorheesville- Carolyn Sand, 68, passed away August 16, 2013. She was born in Albany, NY to Curt and Frances (Hesner) Unverhau on March 8, 1945. Carolyn was a retired clerk from the Department of Tax and Finance and the NYS Thruway Authority. She loved bingo, playing cards and Dominos. She loved traveling to the Turning Stone. For many years, she loved vacationing in Maine. She was a great collector of pigs. Carolyn is survived by her son Michael D. (Debbie) Sand; her mother Frances Unverhau; her grandchildren Christopher, Eric, Alex and Matthew; her sisters Janice (Kenneth) Miller and Helen (Chuck) Herchenroder. She was aunt to Dana (Matthew) Jennings and a great aunt to Curt Jennings. She was pre-deceased by her husband David A. Sand and her son Todd in 1995 and her father Curt. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, August 19, 2013 from 5-7PM at Fredendall Funeral Home 199 Main Street, Altamont. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 11AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memory’s Garden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carolyn’s memory to St. Peter’s Hospital Cardiac Care 315 South Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208.
