David K. Zwack longtime resident of Voorheesville passed away peacefully on Friday July 4th in St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, surrounded by his loving family. Dave was predeceased by his father John Zwack Jr. and mother Geraldine Dwyer Zwack, as well as his brother John Zwack III.
David's early years were spent in Albany where he was educated by Albany City Schools, and Thompson's Lake where he learned his love of the land. An avid hunter, David could be found spending time target shooting with his best friends, always carrying arms wherever he traveled. Owner of Zwack's Decorative Stone, David was a tough guy, often picking the heavy stones by hand.
This world has lost a gentle giant, a patriot, a pioneer, a dad, a brother, a papa, a teacher, a friend to all, and a humanitarian on all levels. There will never ever be another person in this entire world that could ever exhibit all his qualities. He did it all his way, off the grid, but with a strong silent presence.
Dave is survived by his longtime companion Darlene Guido whom he shared 30 years with. In addition to his companion Darlene, Dave is also survived by his son Darrick (Tess) Zwack and daughter Beth (Mike) Gagliardi as well his beloved grandchildren Memphis, Corbin, Tommi, and David.
David is also survived by his siblings: Jeanne (Jack) DeCloe, Stephen (Dianna) Zwack, and Cindy (John Kern) Caruso. Dave is survived by a host of cherished nieces, nephews and lifelong close friends.
Family and friends are invited and may visit with David's family in the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont on Friday July 11th from 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held for David in the funeral home at 7pm immediately following the visitation.
In lieu of flowers kindly consider a donation to Community Hospice 445 New Karner Road, Albany 12205.
