Aww Dorance A."Bud" Mercer of Albany died peacefully in the Schenectady Center Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady on Saturday August 30th. Son of the late Maurice and Marion Barrett Mercer. Beloved husband of the late Edna Mercer.
A proud United States Army veteran, Bud answered his country's call to service at the age of 17 and was honorably discharged following 3 years of service. Bud worked several jobs in his younger years and held numerous positions throughout his working career, ultimately retiring from Pacific Molasses in Albany, where he worked for 20 years as a truck mechanic. In his retirement, Bud was a member of the Colonie Seniors where he made friends and enjoyed time out of the house.
Bud is survived by his children Tina Ryan, Vicky Radly and Dale Mercer, several grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Additionally Bud is survived by his siblings Clifton "Skip" (Jennie) Mercer, and Maurice "Sonny" Mercer.
In addition to Bud's wife and parents he was predeceased by his sister Eleanor Reinhardt.
Family and friends are invited to visit with Bud's family in the Fredendall Funeral Home Sunday September 7th from 4-6pm. A brief service will be held in the funeral home on Monday September 8th at 10am. Interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland where Bud will join his wife Edna in the Mercer family plot.
