Prattsville-Edwin H Brainerd "Mama's Boy" 74 of Prattsville, NY died Tuesday July 16, 2013. He was born on November 14, 1938 the son of Harold and Evelyn (Nickerson) Brainerd in Conesville, NY. He is survived by his wife Janet M. (nee Barkman) who he married on April 19, 1969 in Prattsville, NY. He is also survived by his daughters Connie (Mike) Constable of Glenmont, NY, Becky (Wes) Benson of Jewett, NY, Kathy (Mike) Schmiedel of Prattsville, NY, Barbara Mattice of Hobart, NY, Debra (James) Dymond of Prattsville, NY, his sons George ( Becky) Haight of Ravena, NY, Gene (Debbie) Brainerd of Gilboa, NY, Tom Brainerd of Andes, NY, Randy (Tammy) Brainerd of Prattsville, NY and Edwin (Heide) Brainerd of Ashland, NY, his sister Lorraine ( Phil) Robinson of Gilboa and his brother in-law Wayne ( Gayle) Barkman of Blaine, Tenn. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 aunts, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his stepdaughter Debbie Smith in 2011, his grand-daughter Charlene Bevin in 1987 and his first wife Lois North Brainerd in 1963. Ed was a truck driver for over fifty years and owned his own truck for 10 years. He also worked for J.A. Carman Trucking ,Tuscan Dairy and Greendell Packing. Ed stopped working in October of 1990 when he became disabled with heart disease. Ed was a member of the Prattsville Hose Company and the Greene County Volunteer Firemen Association since 1965. Ed enjoyed truck shows, car shows and traveling to Tennessee. He also enjoyed working on his 1966 white 9000 Road Tractor. Calling hours will be on Friday July 19, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Decker Funeral Home, Windham, NY. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Prattsville United Methodist Church at 10 am. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Prattsville, NY.
