Edwin R. Combs

Altamont - Edwin R. Combs, 81, died on Sunday November 20, 2011 after a long illness. He was born on June 15, 1930 in Monroe, NY, son of the late Ralph and Edna Combs. He served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953. He retired in 1988 from the New York State Office of General Services as the head custodian. He was an avid hunter. He was a member of the Boyd-Hilton VFW Post and the Voorheesville American Legion. Edwin is survived by his wife of 39 years Elizabeth E. Combs; seven stepchildren Edward Smith, Rosemary Nicholas, Roger Smith, Richard Smith, James Smith, Geraldine Klingerman, and Becky Smith; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Saturday, November 26, 2011 from 11 AM to 12 PM at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont, followed by an interment in Knox Cemetery.
