Guilderland - Harlan Durrell Gifford, 81, died on May 4, 2012 after a long illness. Born on September 24, 1930 in Princetown, NY, he was the son of the late Harlen and Irena Gifford. He was employed as a Teamster for MLB Industries in Latham. He enjoyed bowling, camping, and car racing. He was an avid Red Sox Fan. He is survived by a daughter Nancy (David) Maxwell; a son Howard (Irene) Gifford; three grandchildren Jessica (Nick) Buttles, Howie Gifford and Matthew Maxwell; a great granddaughter Taylor Buttles; two sisters Margaret Bixby and Dorothy Tygert; two brothers Warren and Ralph Gifford; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Helen Matson Gifford; two brothers George and Robert Gifford. The family would like to thank the staff of the Home of the Good Shepherd at High Point and Hospice of Saratoga. A funeral service will be held at 10AM on Friday May 11, 2012 at Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont, followed by an interment in Schenectady Memorial Park. Friends may call Thursday from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the PKD Foundation 8330 Ward Parkway, Suite 510Kansas City, MO 64114.
