Joseph Timothy Knightes

Joseph T. Knightes Jr., 29, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Born on August 19, 1985 and raised in Guilderland and Altamont, he was an experienced arborist/tree climber. He also worked for many years at his grandparents business, Knightes Farm Lawn and Garden in Schenectady. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting with his cousin Lucas Oliver of Knox, fishing with his many friends, and devouring trail maps to go on long hikes with his beloved daughter Madisyn. Those of us who fiercely loved him will never forget his amazing smile. He is survived by one daughter, Madisyn Knightes Kowalchyk and his parenting-partner, Staci Kowalchyk, both of Altamont; his father, Joseph T. Knightes Sr. of Guilderland; his mother and step-father, Kim (MacDonald) and Randall Carlson of Harwinton, Conn. and his sister, Audrey Knightes of Myrtle Beach, S.C. The family will receive relatives and friends from 3-6 p.m., Saturday, January 31, at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joe can be made to the Altamont Elementary PTA, 117 Grand St., Altamont, NY 12009.
