Westerlo- Joseph W. Rapp On April 21, 2014, after a courageous battle with lung disease, surrounded by his loving wife and family Joseph Rapp, 82, passed away.  Born in South Berne, NY on Aug. 4, 1931 he was the son of the late William Rapp and Anna Mayrhofer Rapp. Joe proudly served in the US Navy from 1951 - 1955 during the Korean conflict and retired from Niagara Mohawk (National Grid) after 36 years.  He graduated from BKW, and loved spending time with his family and watching the grandchildren grow up.  Those who knew Joe could see how much he enjoyed many laughs and good times over the years.  He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.  Together with his wife Alida they enjoyed traveling in their RV and traveled many places together.  He is survived by his beloved wife Alida (Carl) Rapp; bother Ed Rapp and sister Helen (Ray) Rafferty; his children William (Diane) Rapp, Steve (Pam) Rapp and Theresa (Ken) White; his step children Richard (Deb) Carl, Barbara (Dave) Trossbach and Dennis (Wendy) Carl; his grandchildren Ryan Rapp, Rochelle Rapp, Tanya (Sean) Hannan, Brandon (Wendy) Trossbach, Andrew Trossbach, Jarrett Carl (Melissa), Gabrielle Carl (Russell), Casey Carl, and Ron Welsh; great-granchildren Hailey Alida Hannan, Levi James Carl and Caiden James Underwood; also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Herman Rapp, William Rapp, Arthur Rapp and sister Dottie Roeder, Agnes Sisson, and Josephine Natnacewicz. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 11 AM at the South Berne Congregational Church, 101 Church Rd. South Berne, NY.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe’s memory to the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.fredendallfuneralhome.com
