Judith M. Wright

Judith Mae Wright, "Judy", went home to the Lord surrounded by her loved ones on December 22, 2025, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, following a brief illness. She was 82 years old. Judy was predeceased by her parents, Roger and Leah (Gross) Moorhead, 3 brothers Loren, Gordon and Edward Moorhead, 3 sisters Jane Moran, Carol Wilcox and Donna Moorhead and her husband George Howard Wright. She is survived by her two sons Andrew (Amy) Wright and Jeremy (Michele) Wright as well as her 6 grandchildren Alexis Marie, Anrdrew Jr, Arlan, George, Anson and Audrey Wright. In addition to 2 sisters, Geraldine Moorhead of Otego. NY and Linda Mills of Smithville Flats NY. One brother Gary( Marion) Moorhead of Johnson City NY.

She was born on April 4, 1943, in Greene, New York, Judy was one of nine siblings. She spent much of her life in Berne, New York, where she built a home defined by warmth, strength, and genuine care for others.

Judy dedicated many years of her working life to serving her community. She worked as a postmaster relief at the United States Post Office in Berne, Knox and East Berne. She also was a long time nursery school teacher at Knox Nursery School at the Knox Reformed Church, where her kindness and patience left a lasting impression on those she worked with and cared for.

She was the devoted wife of George Wright, whom she married in 1976, and with whom she shared many loving years until his passing in 2009. In the years that followed, Judy carried on with remarkable resilience, remaining a steady and essential presence for her family, who depended deeply on her love and support.She was a devout Christian and incorporated her faith in all that she said and did.

Judy was a devoted mother to her sons, Jeremy Wright and Andrew Wright her entire life. She was a cherished grandmother to Audrey, Andrew Jr., Anson, Arlan, Alexis, and George Wright. She was a best friend to Margie Huth of Berne, NY for over 50 years. Family was the center of her life, and her unwavering kindness, guidance, selflessness, and quiet strength touched everyone around her.

Judith Mae Wright leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and unwavering support. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a genuine example of Jesus's love.


Family and friends are invited to visit with Judith's family on Wednesday December 31st from 9- 10:30am in the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont. A funeral service will be celebrated for Judith in the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 10:30am.
