Karin E. Busch (née Kattenburg) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 16, 2026, at the age of 85.

Born on August 22, 1940, in Burg, Germany, Karin embarked on a remarkable journey at the age of 18 when she immigrated to the United States in search of new opportunities. She arrived in New York by ship, where she was processed by officials of the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) at the Port of New York. She later became a United States citizen while proudly maintaining her German citizenship throughout her life.

Karin met the love of her life, Stanley Busch, in New York City. Together they built a lifelong marriage before settling in the Town of Knox, where they established what is known today as Busch Farms. Their farm became the center of family life for generations.

Karin enjoyed a successful career as a real estate broker and property manager. While her children were young, she founded and operated Longview Riding Stable, where she shared her love of horses with her family and the community. She worked alongside her family haying the farm and selling hay, embracing the rural lifestyle that became such an important part of her life.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Karin was devoted to her family. She especially cherished her role as a grandmother, introducing her grandchildren to skiing and roller skating and sharing her love of her German heritage through family trips to Germany.

Karin found great joy in hiking the family farm, was an avid reader of both German and American fiction, appreciated the peace and quiet of country life, and treasured spending time with friends over lunch.

Committed to her community, Karin proudly served the Town of Knox as an elected Town Councilwoman for four years. A dedicated member of the Republican Party in Albany County, she faithfully volunteered during elections, served as a notary public, collected petition signatures for candidates, and enthusiastically campaigned door-to-door for the individuals and causes she believed in.

Her determination, independence, and love of both her German heritage and her adopted country shaped the life she built for her family and community. Karin will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, strong work ethic, devotion to her family, pride in her heritage, and unwavering commitment to her community.

Karin is survived by her beloved husband, Stanley Busch; her children, Deborah Busch, Darrin Busch and his wife, Holly, Derek Busch, and Dwayne Busch and his wife, Dody; her grandchildren, Klaus Busch, wife Amber, Garrett Disarno, wife Sara, Devin Busch and his spouse, Patrick, Jennifer Busch, Trevor Busch, Tyler Busch, and Tucker Busch; her great-grandchildren, Eric and ­Kellen; and her extended family, Ricky Shoemaker and his wife, Michelle, their children, Kirstin, Dakota, Ava, Willow, and Ella, and their great-grandson, Camden Vallon.

The Busch family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the hospice team, friends, and neighbors for their compassion and support during Karin's final days.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fredendall Funeral Home. A graveside service, officiated by the family, will be held at Knox Cemetery, Inc. at 12:00 noon, on Tuesday July 21st where Karin will be laid to rest.
