Leroy A. Mower

Windham,NY Leroy A.(Roy) Mower Jr.,66 died on April 22,2011 at the Veterans Hospital in Albany, NY.He was born on Dec. 13,1944 the son of Leroy and Lottie Mae Mower in Gilboa, NY. He was predeceased by his son Jamie Lee Mower in 1978. He is survived by his wife Janet, his children Laura Winegard,Roy Scott Mower and Rebecca Mower. He is also survived by his five grandchildren Jenee,Brianna,Kayla,Michael and Riley. Roy retired after twenty years as a auto parts salesman for Carquest located in Oneonta, NY. He was a U.S. Marine and Vietnam Veteran serving his country from 1963-1969. He was very instrumental in the formation of the Greene County Marine Corps League of which he was past commander. He also was a proud member of the James F. McCarty D.S.C. VFW Post 1545 and the Virgil E. Deyo American Legion Post 1327. Roy was a past president of the Mountaintop Little League as well as a trustee of the Pleasant Valley Cemetery Board. Calling hours will be Mon. April 25,2011 at Decker Funeral Home, Windham,NY from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A funeral service will be conducted on Tues. April 26, 2011 at the Ashland Community Church at 11am, with Rev. Richard Lenz officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Ashland,NY
