Marshall F. Easton Jr.

February 9, 1935 — January 31, 2024

Marshall F. Easton, of Schenectady, NY passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024, at 88 years young. A lifelong resident of New York State, Marshall was born on February 9, 1935 in Manhattan, NY. He was the son of Marshall F. Easton, Sr. and Helen Arthur Leach, and oldest brother of the late Bill and Rodney Easton. Marshall grew up in New York City, where he was a child model. He was a 1953 graduate of Woodlawn High School and joined the U.S. Marine Corps upon graduation. Marshall served his country in Japan and Okinawa from 1953-1956. After his military service, he attended Bryant & Stratton Business School in Syracuse, NY, where he met, and later married Joanne Susan Dunn. They settled in Liverpool, NY and raised two children together. Marshall worked for First Trust and Deposit Co. from 1957-1964. After that, he had a 35-year career with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2001. Marshall married his second wife, Mary Phyllis Dent (1935-2017) in 1986. They remained in Liverpool for many years, eventually moving to Schenectady, NY.

Marshall was known for a quick wit and a rather dry sense of humor. To say Marshall was an avid sports fan is an understatement. When Liverpool High School finally won the state basketball championship in 2018, Marshall declared that he could die happy. He enjoyed watching many sports, but his favorite was baseball. He was a fan of the NY Mets, and later, the NY Yankees. There was not a baseball trivia question he could not answer, and he could tell you the winners and scores of every World Series game with uncanny accuracy. Marshall also enjoyed road trips, collecting sports cards, watching old movies (The Sand Pebbles and Rain Man were two of his favorites), reading (particularly John Grisham), history, (he knew every U.S. President's birthday!), music (Creedence!), rousing games of checkers with his kids, and walking for exercise.

He is survived by his children, Richard P. Easton (Diane) of Troy, NY; Susan E. Bebernes of Frostburg, MD; stepdaughters Kathy Snyder of Leland, NC, Virginia Ugolini of Londonderry, NH; and Maureen Watson (Mark), of Schenectady, NY (who was his loving primary caregiver in his later years); niece Wendy Easton of MD, nephew Jeremy Easton of VA, 2 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and furry companions FiFi and Cricket.

To quote the late, great Yogi Berra, "It ain't over til it's over".....we will see you in the next life, Dad. Funeral services will be private.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont.
