Robert Burns, 85, passed peacefully into God's hands on Septermber 4, 2013.  Robert was a member of the Altamont community for over 30 years.  Often known as "Dancing Bob" and "The Mayor" he loved his community and cherished the relationships he made over the years there.  He never missed the annual Fireman's Ball and was a proud member of his church congregation.  He loved simple things such as Stewart's coffee and a good hamburger.  He is survived by his siblings,Virginia Spenziero of Albany, Arthur Mickel of Albany and Ronald Mickel of Nassau; niece Virginia Giquere of Plattsburgh; nephew Paul Miller of Albany; great niece Mellissa Morrison of Germany and great nephews, Edward Morrison and Shawn Giquere of Plattsburgh and Jason Miller of East Greenbush; his housemates, friends and staff at the Center of Disability Services. Bob is predeceased by his parents Thomas Burns and Minnie Vanburen; two sisters, Ella Miller and Gloria Mickel and two brothers Ralph and Richard Mickel. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 10 AM-11:30AM at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont. A mass service to follow at St. Lucy’s Roman Catholic Church at 11:45AM. Interment at Prospect Hills Cemetery, Valatie, NY. Online condolences may be made at www.fredendallfuneralhome.com
