Robert S. Dearstyne

Cobleskill- Robert S. Dearstyne of Cobleskill, NY passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2016 at his home. Robert is the son of the late Stanley and Evelyn Dearstyne of Berne, NY. Robert is survived by his sons, David (Cheryl) Dearstyne of Montrose, CO, Mark Dearstyne (Myra) of Highland, NY and James Dearstyne (Kimberly) of Berne, NY; his brother Richard (Evelyn) Dearstyne of Tolland, CT, his sister Joan (William) Bentley of Berne, NY, and his sister-in-law Carolyn Dearstyne of Oklahoma City, OK; 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins; in addition, his loving caregivers, Sue Bortell, Tammy Davenport, Caroline Decker and Carissa Baum. Bob will be greatly missed by all. He is predeceased by his wife Thelma J. Dearstyne and brother Stanley Dearstyne. Robert is retired from the US Navy, having served as a Medical Specialist in Hawaii, as well as having worked for 35+ years for O & G Company, Torrington, CT. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting, as well as walking every day when the weather allowed. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 from 10AM – 1PM at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont, with a service to follow at 1PM. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Berne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123
