Shirley M. Morey

Shirley M. Morey longtime resident of Berne passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home on Monday March 16th, 2026. Daughter of the late Henry and Ethel McCauley. Beloved wife of the late Vincent (Bob) Morey.

Shirley enjoyed her adult life in Berne and was employed by the Berne Knox Westerlo School district as a bus driver for 19 years. A familiar face around Berne, Shirley often put her driving skills to generous use by volunteering as a bus driver for the Altamont senior center. Additionally in her free time Shirley was involved with the Berne Fire Police. Shirley was patriotic and often decorated her home with red white and blue American flag decorations and was a supporter of the armed forces service members. She was a long time member of the Schoharie County Shriners and will be missed by her fellow members. Above all Shirley loved her family, friends, and her many dogs and horses.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Eugenia (Keith) Niemiec - Benvenuti and grandchildren Christopher (Tammy) Goodrich, Caroline (Martin) Browne and great grandson Dale Olsen. Shirley will be most lovingly missed by her faithful Chihuahua Cookie. Additionally, Shirley leaves behind her cherished friend Linda Clemmer and her family and Shirley's " all around handyman, Mr. Fix it" John Conklin, who was always willing to lend a hand when Shirley needed it.

In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley is predeceased by her Grandson Chad Carmen and brother William McCauley.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Shirley on Friday March 27th at 10am in St. Lucy / St. Bernadette Church, Grand Street in Altamont. Interment will immediately follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Berne. Family and friends are invited to visit with Shirley's family on Thursday March 26th from 5-7 pm in the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont.
